13. June 2019 / General Assembly of the Bremen Cotton Exchange: Board Elects New Executive Committee

Bremen June 13, 2019: On June 13, 2019 at its 145th Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors of the Bremen Cotton Exchange elected the Association’s new Executive Committee. Jens D. Lukaczik (53), Managing Partner of Bremen-based Cargo Control Germany GmbH & Co. KG remains President. Stephanie Silber (39), Managing Director of Otto Stadtlander GmbH, Bremen, was newly elected as Vice President. Ernst Grimmelt (52), Managing Director of Velener Textil GmbH, Velen, Westphalia and Fritz A. Grobien (61), Managing Partner of Albrecht, Müller-Pearse & Co. Trade (GmbH & Co.) KG, Bremen were re-elected as Vice Presidents.

During the General Assembly, the Board of Directors was also newly elected. Newly elected as a full voting member of the Board is Peter Spoerry, Spoerry 1886 AG, Flums. He was previously a representative of the Swiss textile industry and now holds both positions. Jan Kettelhack, Hch. Kettelhack GmbH + Co. KG, Rheine, Axel Trede, Cotton Service International GmbH, Bremen, and Hannes Drolle, Getzner Textil AG, Bludenz, Austria were re-elected to the Board. Additional members of the Board are Henning Hammer, Otto Stadtlander GmbH, Bremen and Jean-Paul Haessig, RCMA Asia PTE LTD, Singapore. Manfred Kern, Linz Textil Holding AG, Linz sits on the Board as an advisory member of the Austrian textile industry.

The members of the Board and the Executive Committee are entrepreneurs from different areas of the cotton supply chain, e.g. trade, processing and logistics. Through this diverse range of expertise, the Bremen Cotton Exchange has access to a comprehensive network and worldwide information resources throughout the cotton industry.

During the Annual General Meeting in the 147th fiscal year, the Board of Directors and the Administration provided the members with a report on the past business year and submitted their accounts in accordance with the articles of incorporation. This included information on the world cotton situation and a report on the activities of the Association and the ICA Bremen GmbH. In addition, there was an overview of the investments in preserving the value of the Bremen Cotton Exchange building, one of the oldest preserved office buildings in the Hanseatic city of Bremen.

At the end of the General Assembly, Moritz Döbler, Editor-in-Chief of the Weser-Kurier newspaper and a member of the board of the Bremer Tageszeitung AG, spoke about “Digitalisation in the Media World”.
