History of Cotton

History of Cotton

Textiles made of cotton have been clothing people for many millennia. This is demonstrated, for example, by the remains of cotton bolls and cotton textiles discovered in a cave near Tehuacán in Mexico and dated to 5800 BC. In the Old World, the oldest finds (around 3000 B.C.) of cotton fabrics and cotton cords come from the area of present-day Pakistan. The Indus Delta is also believed to have been the site of the first established cotton fields.
