Bremen, June 30, 2016. The association of the Bremen Cotton Exchange held its 142nd Ordinary General Assembly in its 144th fiscal year today. The Board of Directors informed the members on the past fiscal year and gave a statutory report on the financial statement. Furthermore, the Presidents of the international association were appointed.
Mr. Henning Hammer (40), Managing Director of Otto Stadtlander GmbH, Bremen, was elected President of the Bremen Cotton Exchange.
Ernst Grimmelt (49), Managing Director of Velener Textil GmbH, Velen, as well as Fritz A. Grobien (58), Managing Partner of Albrecht, Müller-Pearse & Co. Trade (GmbH & Co.) KG, Bremen, and Jens Lukaczik (50), Managing Director of Cargo Control Germany GmbH & Co. KG, Bremen, became Vice Presidents.
Newly elected to the Board was Hannes Drolle, Getzner Textil AG, Bludenz/Austria.
The Board of Directors is composed of Rainer Hammer, Otto Stadtlander GmbH, Bremen, Martin Kägi, Hermann Bühler AG, Winterthur/Switzerland, Jan Kettelhack, Hch. Kettelhack GmbH + Co. KG, Rheine, Axel Trede, Cotton Service International GmbH, Bremen, and Lüder Vollers, Berthold Vollers GmbH, Bremen.
For the extraordinary benefit of the members of the exchange as well as the whole cotton economy the Presidents as well as the Board embrace valuable expert knowledge due to their different core areas of responsibility and experience. The cotton merchant Henning Hammer based in Shanghai noted after his election for President of the Bremen Cotton Exchange: “Keeping in mind the current situation of the textile industry, on my opinion it will be our task to continuously increase the interest in using cotton, an intelligent, natural as well as renewable and at the same time bio-degradable raw material. The Cotton Exchange is one of the few really neutral and professional contacts for the industry around the globe. We certainly need to expand this role.”
“We are also becoming furthermore established with our joint venture company ICA Bremen as worldwide operating test center. Together with our partners, the Faserinstitut Bremen e. V. and the International Cotton Association in Liverpool, we represent a perfect team enabling us to accomplish very much.”
Finally, Willie Beuth, initiator of the 3p Institute for Sustainable Management in Cologne, held a speech on transparency and the implementation of sustainable supply chains in the textile and apparel sector.
