4. June 2020 / Bremen Cotton Exchange: This year‘s General Assembly different

Dear Members,

President Jens D. Lukaczik

This year we have to break new ground. Against the backdrop of the situation influenced by COVID-19 and the conditions changed by the legislator, the Board of Directors of the Bremen Cotton Exchange has decided not to convene the General Assembly as a face-to-face event in Bremen this year.

As things stand today, a meeting is not permitted in the state of Bremen. Since it is not yet possible to predict exactly how the situation will develop in the future, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors, in consultation with our legal advisers, consider it to be a practicable solution, in accordance with the regulations made available by the legislator, that the necessary votes of the ordinary members of the Bremen Cotton Exchange be carried out in writing, without participation in the meeting, in advance of 18 June.

The General Assembly will then be carried out solely by the board and on the basis of the votes you, our members, have already made. The board will also hold the meeting and upcoming board meetings via video conference. This will happen on 18 June, as planned. This procedure, adapted to these unusual times, is certainly an exceptional situation.

We hope that the next General Assembly in 2021 will again be a face-to-face event in the usual form and that we will then be able to welcome all our members to the large conference room of the Bremen Cotton Exchange.

We would like to thank you, our members, for your support in advance.

Jens D. Lukaczik, President
