13. June 2023 / Werder Bremen Photo Shoot in the Cotton Exchange

In 2022, seven football clubs from the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga (1st FC Union Berlin, Arminia Bielefeld, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburger SV, SV Werder Bremen, VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg) have joined forces in the “From Field to Fanshop“ initiative. Over the next three years, they will jointly support 450 smallholders of a cotton cooperative in India in converting to the cultivation of organic cotton.

In May of this year, Werder Bremen carried out a photo shoot on the project at the Bremen Cotton Exchange.  The images are intended for marketing the fan shop products made from Indian cotton. With the cotton exchange, a setting was chosen that could not be better suited: the building stands for the more than 150-year-old tradition of cotton trade in the Hanseatic city of Bremen to this day and thus underlines the connection between history and modern times as an example.

The initiative was launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) together with the textile company Brands Fashion. It is supported by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. At the end of January 2023, a delegation of the initiative traveled to the project region Rapar, in the state of Gujarat.
