The cotton standards of countries from all continents are a basis for determining the quality of cotton and thus also for the prices that producer and retailer agree on. When it comes to disputes, the qualities set out in standards are crucial. In this case, experts of the Bremen Cotton Exchange and ICA can conduct a so-called arbitrage, which is a dispute resolution procedure according to the statutes of the Bremen Cotton Exchange and the ICA. Crucial for the quality of the cotton are parameters such as fiber length, color, impurities and fiber strength as well as fineness. Justrecently the Bremen Cotton Exchange received new cotton standards from Uganda, the United States and Azerbaijan.
