15. August 2018 / Members of the Partnership of Sustainable Textiles Publish Roadmaps for 2018

All 116 members of the Partnership of Sustainable Textiles subject to report have submitted their roadmaps disclosing precisely what they have done for additional sustainability* within the textile supply chain. The first 60 roadmaps have now been presented to the public. The Bremen Cotton Exchange has published its roadmap just like every other participating company, NGO, union, standard organization, association and the federal government. All remaining action plans will be published until September.

The projected measures – approximately 1,300 – refer amongst other things to risk management and the handling of complaints, the avoidance of harmful chemicals, the sustainable water use or the implementation of wages ensuring livelihood. Thus, relating to hazardous chemicals for instance, more than 160 substances will be eliminated from production step by step. As regards cotton, the members agreed to aim for applying at least 35 percent of sustainable* or organic cotton until 2020. All members using cotton have to contribute to this goal.
