19. November 2018 / Introduction to DNA analysis and current developments

Thursday, November 29, 9:30-11:00 am in the “Turmsaal” (506) of the Bremen Cotton Exchange

With new demands for transparency in the textile supply chain, evidence of the origin and cultivation conditions of cotton is becoming increasingly relevant, especially if it is produced according to specific standards. By means of DNA analysis, it is now possible to detect and quantify genetically modified cotton even in the finished textile.

The Bremen Cotton Exchange, together with Impetus Bioscience, is offering an introductory seminar covering the basics and methods of DNA analysis. Additionally, participants will receive an overview of the current research and application areas as well as potentials of DNA analysis. The seminar will conclude with a brief outlook on the current project of the Bremen Cotton Exchange and Impetus Bioscience: “Blockchain for GMO mediation in organic cotton”.

The seminar is public and free.
