ICA Bremen’s Axel Drieling returned to the Brazilian Association of Producers of Cotton (ABRAPA) and its central laboratory Centro Brasileiro de Referencia em Analise de Algado (CBRA) in Brazil last May to ensure best practice for Brazilian cotton testing.

Axel first provided consultancy to ABRAPA and CBRA in June 2017 on Brazil’s Standard HVI Program (SBRHVI). His latest visit provided added expertise in this area as well as examining the quality management and procedures of CBRA as it prepares for ICA Bremen International Laboratory Certification.

Speaking of his trip, Axel said; “The visit was extremely interesting. I could see the developments the CBRA laboratory has made, especially with the Quality Management that has been installed over the last year in preparation for ICA Bremen laboratory certification. It was encouraging to see the engagement and passion that all at CBRA have put into their activities.”

Axel also delivered a tailored training workshop at ABRAPA to 15 participants from a range of laboratories involved in instrument testing of Brazilian cotton production. He explained; “The workshop defined the best prerequisites for assuring valid test results for the Brazilian cotton – something which is a key focus for ABRAPA.”

ICA Bremen is an ‘international centre of excellence’ for cotton testing, research and quality training. Formed in October 2011, ICA Bremen combines the global reach of International Cotton Association (ICA) with the quality expertise of Bremer Baumwollboerse (BBB) and the Bremen Fibre Institute (FIBRE).
