We are now facing this challenge here in Bremen\non the occasion of our 35th<\/sup> International Cotton Conference, which\nwas to take place from 25 to 27 March. The coronavirus has been keeping the\nworld on tenterhooks for some weeks now and, as you may have heard in the news,\nhas also arrived in Germany and Bremen. As the organiser of an international\nconference, we have been forced to make a decision and it was by no means easy\nfor us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Due to the prevailing global threat from\nCovid-19, we will postpone the 35th<\/sup> International Cotton Conference\nBremen for one year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The World Health Authority (WHO), as well as\nthe European and German health authorities are advising of significant health\nrisks from transmission of the coronavirus. According to the Federal Foreign\nOffice, data on the new virus is currently still limited, which makes risk\nassessment even more difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The International Cotton Conference Bremen has\nan exceptionally good reputation. The high standard of the lectures, the\nintensive panel discussions and the active networking inside and outside the\nTown Hall \u2013 none of this would have been possible against the backdrop of the\ncurrent virus problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, it is our wish to organise a\nsuccessful Cotton Conference for each participant. We want to live our \u201cPassion\nfor Cotton\u201d freely. We want to offer our speakers an audience that has\ntravelled to Bremen from all over the world without hesitation and in the usual\nnumber. Our top-class lectures deserve a correspondingly high level of\nattention that would not have been possible in the current environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We would like to offer our guests from all over\nthe world a relaxed atmosphere in which people can discuss, learn and celebrate\nwith a clear head and without the threat of a virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In total,\nparticipants from more than 40 nations travel to Bremen for the Cotton Conference.\nIn addition to the main conference, there are numerous side events. Many of our\nguests and conference participants are currently unsettled by the many negative\nreports. In the context of their responsibility, the organisers, the Bremen\nCotton Exchange and the Fibre Institute Bremen, take the risks and concerns of\nall participants extremely seriously and would like to ensure planning\nreliability given the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 35th<\/sup>\nInternational Cotton Conference Bremen with the motto \u201cPassion for Cotton\u201d will\nnow take place from 17 to 19 March 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We\nsincerely hope that you will share our assessment of the situation and will be\nthere again in a year to shape our conference with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thank you for your understanding!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jens D.
