Employees of the Bremen Cotton Exchange visit Velener Textil and Setex Textilveredlung
In order to gain a deeper insight into cotton-related production processes, employees of the Bremen Cotton Exchange visited the cotton spinning and weaving mill Velener Textil GmbH, Velen and then the finishing company of Setex Textilveredlung in Bochholt, a subsidiary of the Setex Group. Ernst Grimmelt, Managing Director of Velener Textil, explained the various production steps to manufacture finished yarn and fabric from a single bale of cotton. Attached to the spinning mill specialized in cotton is the weaving mill. Here, depending on the customer’s demand, both own-produced yarns and supplied yarns, produced mainly from other fibres, are used. The entire production process is accompanied by a strict quality management. Products of Velener Textil GmbH are predominantly used in home textiles, in workwear or in technical applications, for example as a basis for abrasives. Repeatedly, the company is characterized by innovative ideas. Just recently, the company was awarded with the international DNFI Innovation Natural Fibers Award for its new process, called WECYCLED®. The WECYCLED® system reprocesses left over cotton remnants from the production process into new yarns.
Traditionally, Setex Textilveredlung in Bocholt has a large focus on dyeing. Managing Director Georg Klein-Hitpaß guided the group through the operation and explained the complex, often multistaged finishing processes for textiles. In addition to various dyeing methods, these include bleaching, roughing and sanforizing, as well as methods for flame retardant and easy-iron finishing. In order to stay on the cutting edge of technology, Setex is constantly investing in the modernization of the facility. Great emphasis is placed on digitization and networking of all processes in order to be able to control and monitor production more efficiently. Especially in finishing companies such as Setex, the fulfillment of individual customer requirements plays an important role and requires high flexibility in the production processes.Category: Allgemein
